The Story of My Labour!

Over 3 weeks of absence....

And what has happened?

Baby Dot has arrived... And I've had 3 weeks of happiness, and tears, and frustration all mixed into one.

Baby Dot turned out to be a little girl... and she was born on 2nd December at 3.32pm weighing 9lb 1oz (so not the giant we were expecting).
The labour was easy but exhausting... I will write that up shortly.

I stayed in hospital overnight, as I had a high temperature throughout labour, and had iv antibiotics.  The following day I asked every hour if I could go home..

Dot is a wonderful baby, she was born with a tongue-tie which we are going to leave unless it causes her any problems.

I started off breastfeeding, but, despite attaching well to the right breast, we couldn't seem to get the left hand side working... and when she was 4 days old switched to formula/breast...
Then I developed mastitis at 9 days in the left side, and was on antibiotics for 7 days... so we went completely bottle, but combined breast and formula.
Now, at 20 days, I'm on antibiotics again, for mastitis in the right!  (I feel extremely unlucky and am really looking forward to my milk drying up... And I NEVER thought I'd be saying that. :()

As I said before I've had almost 3 weeks of ups and downs.  I've been hormonal, and taken it out on everyone.  I think Dot is the only one who escaped, as at one point Little Man was getting it in the neck about everything. :(  I felt like a wicked step-mother, and I was terrified PND was going to creep up on me again.

However, now I have come to terms with failing in breastfeeding (yes, I still see it a failure on my part), I am thoroughly enjoying being a Mum of two.. and I never thought my love for Little Man could grow any more, but having Dot has proved me wrong... I love them both so much, it's indescribable. :)
And now I am looking forward to our first christmas as a family of four! :)
